Calvin Klein's Spring 2014 Women's RTW Collection Is Here! And Well, I'm Only Feeling Some of It!

Calvin Klein's Spring 2014 collection is ready to see! All in all I can say is this it's certainly avant garde but not in a good way. It doesn't look like something people would wear on a normal basis or something that could be worn in New York or LA high society. It just looks like he threw the pieces together but I guess that's their version of fashion. In his artistic vision. I see several pieces that I really like and one or two that has potential to be something better with a little change in how it clings to the body or how it hangs. To dive deeper into an explanation of the collection some of the pieces looked unfinished (which I suppose is what the look was going for) and poorly put together. See for yourself:

Beauty Tip 4 U: Home Remedy for Removing Dead Skin from Your Feet

Listerine is the BEST way to get your feet ready for summer. Sounds crazy but it works! 

Recipe: 
1/4c Listerine 
 1/4c vinegar 
1/2c of warm water. 

Instructions: 
Mix all ingredients in a foot tub or bathtub (Whatever you have that works for you). Soak feet for 10 minutes and when you take them out the dead skin will practically wipe off!


Got this from Facebook, it floated around for like 4 months. I never tried it but I'm going to I want to see if it really works. So if you try it before me let me know!

My Makeup Evolution: How I Have Advanced In Makeup and My Continual Growth

In Makeup you advance by doing. There is no shortcut you just have to get up and do it! I have gotten better in my makeup application. My only problem area is my eyebrows but I am working on it ;). Anywho here are some photos of my makeup progression. And some Videos!

In the first half of my makeup applications I was only using one color and not doing any blending or crease cutting. It looked good enough, gave me a small pop of color. In the second of half of my makeup applications you'll be able to see how I began to use certain techniques in my makeup: crease cutting, playing with dark and light colors, giving my eyes shape and dimension.


This was the Early Days of My Makeup...Not Bad Right?!

 Years 2005 - 20011

 Pretty Simplistic looks. No shading, no contrasting colors. Just one color, liner, and some lip gloss and I was still killing it! LOL



 


My Makeup Looks Now: See we've got some contouring, shading, creasing, etc. In this part of the blog I'm showing you my current progress in makeup. I evolve everyday by doing. Makeup can be a challenge but you will only improve if you continue to work at it.

These are just the different ways I have done my makeup. I've been able to evolve in makeup because I kept at it. Makeup is an enhancement tool. You can do so many creative things with makeup and its simple small techniques that can help you to achieve everything from smokey eyes to simple everyday looks. Just try it out. Beauty Tip: Healthy Nails & Hands

I'm all for false nails. They look great and when done properly you can't tell the difference between the real or fake. But acrylics, gel, glass, etc they can wreak havoc on your real nails. To prepare your nails for the healing process after the removal of the fake nails, you will need a few key items to achieve that. Here are some steps to help you remove acrylic nails:


Steps to Remove Acrylic Nails


Method One: Soak the Acrylic Nails in Acetone

1). Clip your nails. Use a nail clipper to trim the tips of your acrylic nails short. Cut off as much of the acrylic as possible. If cutting is difficult due to the thickness of the nails, use a course nail file to file them. But make sure you don't catch any of your nail bed because it will bleed.


2). File the topcoat off of the nails. Use a fine-grade buffer to file off the paint and remove a much of the acrylic as possible. Use long strokes that run the length of the nail.

3). Warm up some acetone. Pour the acetone into a small glass bowl and cover the top of the bowl with plastic wrap or foil. Use an elastic band to hold the plastic wrap or foil in place.
Place the bowl of acetone into a bowl of hot water. Ensure the waterline is below the top of the bowl with the acetone so the water doesn't mix with the acetone.
Wait 3 to 5 minutes for the acetone to warm.
4). Apply petroleum jelly to the skin surrounding your nails. Acetone dissolves plastic and is also hard on skin, so it's important to protect yourself. This step will prevent your skin from becoming irritated by the acetone, particularly if you have hangnails.
Take care not to get too much petroleum jelly on your nails, since the acetone should be able to reach it and dissolve it.
Use a cotton-tipped wooden applicator if you need help applying the petroleum jelly more precisely.
5). Apply the acetone to your nails. Saturate a cotton ball per nail in the warmed acetone, then place the cotton balls on the tips of your fingers. Wrap them tightly against the acrylic nails using strips of aluminum foil. Let your nails soak in the acetone for 30 minutes.
You use a non-plastic tape to fasten the cotton balls if you don't have aluminum foil.
You can also simply soak your nails in the bowl of acetone if you know that acetone doesn't irritate your skin.
6). Remove the foil and cotton balls from your fingertips. The cotton ball and the nail should come off easily.
If you soaked your acrylic nails in the bowl of acetone, gently pry the nails off using an orange wood stick.
If the acrylic nails are still firmly stuck, repeat the process for another 20 minutes and attempt to remove them again.
7). Scrape off the leftover acrylic with the nail buffer. The acrylic should be soft from the acetone bath, so take the opportunity to buff the rest of it away. If the acrylic begins to harden again while you're buffing, use a cotton ball soaked in acetone to dampen it.

8). Shape your natural nails. Use nail clippers and a nail file to smooth the edges. Buff your nails lightly with a fine-grade nail buffer, moving from the base of the nail to the tip.
To avoid damaging your nails, file in one direction only, and avoid using a sawing motion.
The top few layers of your nails may have been removed with the acrylic. Be careful not to tear or damage them further when file and buff them.
9). Restore the moisture to your hands. Acetone causes skin to become extremely dry. Rinse off the remaining traces with soap and water. Dry your hands and rub them with body oil, olive oil or a moisturizing lotion.

Essential Tools:

Nail Clipper
Finger Nail File 
Gel Cuticle Remover
Mini or Large 4 Way Buffer
Hand Cream (Your Fave or the one I use Moisture Therapy by Avon)
Cuticle Oil
Nail Hardener (Not Pictured)
Polish of Your Choice (Clear or Colored it's Up to You)


Okay give your hands a day to rest from the acetone or whatever removal method you use. Then you will start the process of getting your hands back to normal. 

Step 1: Use your cuticle remover gel. If you have the one I have which is Sally Hensen, you place a thin strip of of the cuticle gel on every cuticle. Allow it to sit for 2 to 3 minutes (it can sit for no longer than 10 minutes). Push down your cuticles with the cuticle stick. Remove the excess cuticle gel and cuticles. You can also use the nail clipper to cut the excess cuticles off but they should remove easily with the cuticle gel. Just follow the directions on the tub and you should be fine.
Step 2: Cut down your nails and even them out. Use a file to shape the nail.
Step 3: Use the 4-Way buffer to buff your nails until the surface is even and shiny. 
Step 4: Use the cuticle oil on your cuticles. Wash your hands thoroughly. 
Step 5: Apply Nail Hardener 
Step 6: Polish if you like.
Step 7: Once your polish of choice has dried use your hand lotion to lotion your hands. 

*Side Note: If your looking for softer hands you can use a sugar or salt scrub to make your hands softer after you buff your nails. 

Your nails will slowly heal and go back to normal. All they need is a little tender loving care, TLC!

A Shoe Tour of the Net: Some Pretty Neat Finds for Shoe Sizes 6-15 (My Faves!)

As a plus size woman its difficult to find shoes in my size. I wear a size 11 and it takes a tremendous amount of work to search for the right shoe. Besides the size it has to be able to support my weight and be fashionable. With that being said here are some of my favorite places to find some awesome shoe finds from Luxury and Affordable so let's get started:

Jewel High

The first place I am going to tell you guys about is a company called Jewel High. It was launched on March of 2013. Currently she is working on her collection but for now she has 2 pairs of awesome heels Poison and Tami.

Poison is a purple and yellow animal print platform heel. A mixture of both suede and leather is as complex and unique as it is both intriguing and fashionable, I love it! It's great for all the girls and guys who love high a heel but can't find it in their size. Plus the shoe is on trend with its vibrant colors and ultra high platform heel standing at a whopping 5'4" heel and a 1.5" platform. Available in sizes 6-15, Poison is definitely a must have in your spring/summer closet.

Tami on the hand is more on the minimalist side. In very pretty gunmetal and silver colors Tami has several different features that would draw the eye. I love Gwen Stefani's entire line. She's very avant garde and you can't help but admire her creativity. A popular store among plus size women is torrid.com! Torrid dabbles in everything from shoes to clothes to jewelry to handbags and even perfume! But for this blog were going to focus on the shoes. For all my girls wearing sizes 6-13, Torrid has beautiful shoes unique to their company. They even offer medium width and wide width. You will be pleasantly surprised at the selection they have available. Torrid has boots, heels, wedges, sandals and flats. They are very trendy and change their shoe collection about every 3-4 months.

Jessica Simpson's brand is one of the biggest affordable brands in the fashion industry to date. She has made herself the go to girl for women and girls who are looking for fashionable shoes without the high price. Jessica Simpson provides shoes in sizes 5-11. They are available everywhere. From Heels.com to Macys to Sears. I personally love Jessica Simpson's shoes. I don't have A-Lister star money and its difficult to find shoes that are on trend or fashionable (beyond Payless) that look great and are affordable and not $6,000! I mean you saw the Christian Louboutins its unfortunate for gals like me who cant afford it but Jessica Simpson has made life a little bit more fashionable for us! Speaking of Payless LMAO. Payless has been around for years over the last decade they have been stepping up their game making original fashionable shoes that look like a million bucks but cost 25 bucks! Designers like Christian Siriano, Lela Rose, and Isabel Toledo just to name a few.

I stumbled upon makemechic.com through YouTube. YouTube is a great way to find inexpensive clothing, makeup, anything you need most of these Gurus have found it! Its a great site and wonderful company. The site contains shoes, clothes and accessories. But today were going to focus on the shoes. The shoes are so CUTE! You are going to LOVE makemechic.com and not to mention the handbags! But thats another blog for another time. Anyway, the sizes are 5-11. They don't carry a wide selection of wide widths either so be careful of that. I wasn't hip to Aldo until my little sister started frequenting their store. She loves shopping at the mall and I would see her come home with a bag full of Aldo shoes and bags. From heels, to clothes, to really cute bags, Aldo is a permanete fixture on this list for trendy, fashionable shoes at an affordable price! Go Jane is a very up to date shoe site that provides affordable shoes for size 5 to 11. Listen I love this site but it is so difficult to shop with them. Honestly I never get the shoes I really want because they are out of my size so fast. Go Jane is extremely cheap as well. They are so awesome. I mean I could frequent this site for a month and still won't get the shoes I want. I will still be subject to missing out on some of my favorite shoes. They have vey trendy and eclectic shoes. Shoes to wear to the club shoes to wear to a party everything. Check them out. I'm telling you that when you go there you'll be more than ecstatic at the selection. But find out when new shipments come in (email or call), that way you won't be stuck with the silly look on your face because you can't get the shoes you want. This is my all-time FAVORITE shoe company EVER!!!! I love their shoes. I found them through torrid.com. I was shopping and saw that IronFist had made an exclusive shoe with torrid and made it available to their customers exclusively. I bought it and it was so comfortable and beautiful. I was in HEAVEN and I've been a loyal customer ever since! I have about 3 pairs of IronFist shoes and I love them dearly. I've bought several pairs of IronFist shoes but they didn't fit and I was upset because I really loved them. Some of the cutest and most avante garde shoes you will ever see believe me!
